Tips list, what can you do?

There are several different ways you can get involved, here are some examples.

Get involved in MyRight

  • Gå med i Facebook-gruppen ”Inkludera Flera – för globala funkisfrågor!”. Posts about global functional rights issues are discussed and shared there.
  • Follow MyRight on social media. Share our posts and spread knowledge to others.
  • Learn more and tell others. Read more on our website or take part in our information material. To change the world requires knowledge and commitment.
  • Subscribe to our newsletters and share it with others. There is one in Swedish and one in English.
  • Ask how others work. If you want to support another organization - ask how they work to protect the rights of people with disabilities. Do they measure whether people with disabilities take part in their efforts?
  • Become a member and be active in a project. It is MyRights member organizations that can apply for money to run a project together with a partner organization.
Our members are nationwide functional rights organizations, but the organizations' local associations can also run projects. Email info@myright.se for more information.

Commitment within the Nordic region

If you want to get involved in projects across the Nordic borders, there are opportunities to apply for funding for projects through the Nordic Welfare Centre. There is also a lot of information about functional rights in the Nordics.

You can find more about the Nordic Welfare Centre's work in the field of disability here: https://nordicwelfare.org/funktionshinder

Funktionsrätt Sweden

Funktionsrätt Sweden is a cooperative organization that consists of nationwide functional rights associations. Functional law Sweden has continuous work with the Nordic countries and collaborates on strategic issues such as policy and legislation, in the Nordics but also on a European level.

An example of Funktionsrätt Sweden's Nordic cooperation is a report on accessible media in 2012. The report compared the media between the Nordic countries, which then contributed to increased demands for accessibility in the media.

Funktionsrätt Sweden is also an active member of the European Disability Forum, which drives common disability policy issues at the European level. Read more about Funktionsrät Sweden here: https://funktionsratt.se/om-funktionsratt-sverige

European advocacy

Within the EU, there are umbrella organizations that bring together all national functional rights umbrellas and other European functional rights organizations to enable joint advocacy work.

The European Disability Forum (EDF) and the European Patient Forum (EPF) are two separate umbrella organizations that target different target groups within the functional rights movement. Getting involved in EDF or EPF is a key to gaining more insight into how it works within the EU system.
