Sedan den 11 maj 2026 teckenspr\u00e5kstolkas parlamentets direkts\u00e4nda sammantr\u00e4den f\u00f6r f\u00f6rsta g\u00e5ngen i landets historia. Beslutet inneb\u00e4r att d\u00f6va personer i Nepal nu f\u00e5r b\u00e4ttre tillg\u00e5ng till information om politik, lagstiftning och samh\u00e4llsfr\u00e5gor.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"444\" data-end=\"724\">Initiativet har v\u00e4lkomnats av National Federation of the Deaf Nepal (NDFN), paraplyorganisationen f\u00f6r d\u00f6va personer i Nepal. Organisationens ordf\u00f6rande Santosh K.C. beskriver f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringen som en historisk milstolpe f\u00f6r landets d\u00f6va community.<\/p>\n<h2>Ett l\u00e5ngvarigt p\u00e5verkansarbete gav resultat<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"774\" data-end=\"1172\">NDFN har under l\u00e5ng tid drivit fr\u00e5gan om teckenspr\u00e5kstolkning i parlamentets s\u00e4ndningar. Organisationen h\u00e4nvisar bland annat till FN:s konvention om r\u00e4ttigheter f\u00f6r personer med funktionsneds\u00e4ttning, Nepals konstitution och landets lagstiftning om r\u00e4ttigheter f\u00f6r personer med funktionsneds\u00e4ttning, som alla sl\u00e5r fast r\u00e4tten till information och kommunikation.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1174\" data-end=\"1526\">Ett avg\u00f6rande steg togs n\u00e4r representanter fr\u00e5n NDFN tr\u00e4ffade talmannen Dol Prasad Aryal i april 2026. Efter m\u00f6tet uttryckte talmannen st\u00f6d f\u00f6r kravet och betonade att alla medborgare har r\u00e4tt att kunna f\u00f6lja och f\u00f6rst\u00e5 parlamentets arbete. Enligt NDFN st\u00e4rker detta d\u00f6va personers r\u00e4tt till information och delaktighet i demokratin.<\/p><p data-start=\"1867\" data-end=\"2078\">Initiativet har \u00e4ven v\u00e4ckt internationellt intresse. Enligt NDFN har b\u00e5de internationella organisationer och d\u00f6va personer i andra l\u00e4nder uppm\u00e4rksammat utvecklingen i Nepal.<\/p><h2 data-start=\"2080\" data-end=\"2127\" data-section-id=\"udbqr1\">Fortsatta utmaningar f\u00f6r tillg\u00e4ngliga medier<\/h2><p data-start=\"2129\" data-end=\"2410\">Trots framstegen finns fortfarande utmaningar kvar. NDFN lyfter att m\u00e5nga tv kanaler visar teckenspr\u00e5kstolken i ett alltf\u00f6r litet format eller placerar grafik och nyhetsrullor \u00f6ver tolken, vilket g\u00f6r det sv\u00e5rt f\u00f6r tittare att f\u00f6lja inneh\u00e5llet.<\/p><p data-start=\"2412\" data-end=\"2635\">Organisationen efterfr\u00e5gar ocks\u00e5 att fler privata medier b\u00f6rjar anv\u00e4nda teckenspr\u00e5kstolkning i sina nyhetss\u00e4ndningar.
