In the joint document, Civil Society for Agenda 2030, the signatory organizations promise a heightened ambition in the implementation of Agenda 2030. This, among other things, by educating people, being innovators, developing new methods and contributing to the agenda being implemented locally and globally. It is the platforms CONCORD Sweden, Forum - Idea-borne organizations with a social focus and LSU - Sweden's youth organizations that have taken the initiative for the declaration of intent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- We saw a need to create an anchor around the work for Agenda 2030 in civil society. One of our commitments is to work inclusively to utilize and make visible the knowledge and abilities of different generations and people, says Hannah Kroksson, Secretary General of LSU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The initiative is also a response to the letter of intent signed by the directors general of some 60 government agencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- We want to show with a common voice everything that idea-driven organizations and the non-profit commitment do to contribute to sustainable development. We can only achieve Agenda 2030 if we work together, in partnerships between different sectors of society. Here, civil society has a central role to play, says G\u00f6ran Pettersson, Secretary General of Forum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It has now been three years since the Global Goals for Sustainable Development were adopted. There is a risk that the long-term work to achieve the goals will be overshadowed by other political and economic priorities. If the goals are to be achieved by 2030, the level of ambition and pace must be raised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
- We 82 organizations will continue to focus on sustainability issues. This is the case now, and it applies both to ourselves in our own work, but also to holding the government accountable for its commitments. <\/strong>On 25 September 2015, the UN General Assembly adopted the historic Agenda 2030 resolution on sustainable development. The agenda means that all 193 member states of the UN are committed to working to achieve a socially, environmentally and economically sustainable world by 2030. The agenda contains 17 goals and 169 sub-goals, which in Sweden are called the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. In English, they are called Global Goals for Sustainable Development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>The initiative for the declaration of intent was taken in the spring of 2018 by the three platforms CONCORD Sweden, Forum - Idea-borne organizations with a social focus, and LSU - Sweden's youth organizations. Together, we saw the need to create an anchor around the work for Agenda 2030 in civil society. At the same time, we saw room to provide an answer to the letter of intent signed by the directors general of some 60 government agencies. This initiative thus becomes a reminder and a tool for demanding responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
<\/strong>We hope that the letter of intent will generate conversations and learning for each organization to take the work of sustainable development one step further. On 5 December 2018, the letter of intent was submitted to Minister of Civil Affairs Ardalan Shekarabi, and we as platforms will use the letter of intent in both advocacy work and capacity-building work in the future. NOD - National body for dialogue and consultation between the government and civil society - will in 2019 develop the work with a mutual learning and structured work for Agenda 2030 by starting up a so-called learning network on the issues.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
