Estimado MyRight,<\/p>

Le escribimos para informarle de nuestros \u00e9xitos en la promoci\u00f3n del derecho de las personas sordas a obtener el permiso de conducir en Sri Lanka.<\/p>

Ha habido grandes dificultades para sacarlo adelante, a pesar de que las personas sordas tienen la capacidad y los conocimientos necesarios. Llevamos m\u00e1s de 20 a\u00f1os luchando por ello. Nos hemos encontrado con muchas dificultades y, en varias ocasiones, las decisiones pol\u00edticas han cambiado y hemos tenido que volver a empezar.<\/p>

Pero ahora se ha superado un hito.<\/p>

El Ministro de Transportes y Carreteras aprob\u00f3 a principios de a\u00f1o un proyecto piloto en el distrito de Gampaha. El proyecto consisti\u00f3 en que el Departamento de Veh\u00edculos a Motor de Sri Lanka expidiera 40 permisos de conducir a sordos del distrito y en un programa de sensibilizaci\u00f3n para agentes de polic\u00eda. Al final del periodo de prueba de tres meses, se comprob\u00f3 que el proyecto hab\u00eda tenido \u00e9xito. Nadie hab\u00eda infringido las normas de tr\u00e1fico durante ese periodo.<\/p>

Tras el \u00e9xito de la prueba piloto en el distrito de Gampaha, parece que el programa piloto se ampliar\u00e1 a escala nacional y se extender\u00e1 por todo el pa\u00eds.<\/p>

Estamos muy contentos y esperanzados.<\/p>
